𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲: 𝟒𝟗𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐂𝐒𝐈 𝐇𝐲𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐝 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲

As the sun began to set on August 10th, 2023, a sense of anticipation and nostalgia filled the air at the Dr. Marri Channa Reddy Human Resource Development Institute in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. It was the eve of the 49th Foundation Day Celebration of the Hyderabad Chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).

A Moment of Gratitude

This cherished annual event continued to bring together past and present leaders of the organisation, all of whom shared a commitment to excellence and advancement in the field of corporate governance, much like the turning pages of a well-worn book.

A Journey Through Time

Among the distinguished invitees, I found myself standing in a room filled with familiar faces and echoes of memories from years gone by. Having once served as the Chairman of this esteemed organisation, it was an immense honour to be part of this celebration yet again. My journey with the Hyderabad Chapter of ICSI began in 1991, when I became a member of the elected Managing Committee for 8 years. This marked the beginning of a series of rewarding experiences that eventually led me to assume the role of Chairman in 1996.

A Grand Venue for a Grand Celebration

The years may have passed, but the sense of camaraderie and shared purpose remained palpable. This year's celebration was particularly significant as it marked the 49th milestone in the chapter's history. The venue itself, the sprawling Dr. Marri Channa Reddy HRD Institute, stood as a testament to the grandeur of the occasion. The campus, nestled across 37 acres of picturesque land, was adorned with 15 classrooms, an auditorium, and four conference halls, providing a fitting backdrop for an event of this stature.

Nostalgia and Rediscovery

As I walked through the familiar halls of the institute, memories flooded back of a time when I had addressed a session on Communication Skills for trainees. The journey from then to now has been one of growth, both personal and collective. This was further emphasised by the presence of esteemed guests, including Hon'ble Smt. Justice P. Madhavi Devi, High Court of Telangana, and other dignitaries like Shri Paravinder Singh, Registrar of Companies, and members of the ICSI Central Council.

Distinguished Guests and Inspirational Speeches

The evening's speeches were a true reflection of the occasion—brief, eloquent, and apt. Hon'ble Smt. Justice Madhavi Devi's words resonated deeply, and the speeches by the other distinguished guests painted a vivid picture of the evolution and dedication of the organisation. CS Venkata Ramana's announcement regarding the reconstruction of a new building in place of the existing premises was met with enthusiastic applause, a testament to the spirit and aspiration of Company Secretaries in Hyderabad.

A Heartfelt Felicitation

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the moment when I was called upon to receive a felicitation. As I stood before the gathering, I couldn't help but reflect on the path that had brought me to this point. With gratitude and humility, I offered my greetings and shared a few words of advice with the current Managing Committee members. It was heartwarming to be met with wholehearted applause and a thoughtful gift, a symbol of the enduring bonds that this organisation had fostered.

Leadership and Dedication: Acknowledging the Team

A special commendation is due to the current Chairperson, CS Lathi Devi T, whose unwavering efforts brought this event to life in all its splendour. Her dedication was echoed by the Vice Chairperson, CS Akshita Surana, who introduced the special guest with poise and grace. The Managing Committee, including CS Manjeeth Bucha (Secretary) and CS Gupta GSLN (Treasurer), orchestrated the event with meticulous precision, ensuring that every moment unfolded seamlessly. They were ably assisted by the other members on the Managing Committee: CS Karthik A and CS Pavan Kankani, under the guidance of CS Mahadev T, a member of the ICSI Southern India Regional Council from Hyderabad.

Behind the Scenes: The Unsung Heroes

The contributions of the Hyderabad Chapter staff, including Mr. Srinivas (Executive Officer), Mr. Praveen, and Mr. Srikanth, were indispensable to the success of the celebration. Their dedication behind the scenes was a testament to the collaborative spirit that had been a hallmark of the organisation.

Where Passion Meets Progress: Community and Connection

As the evening drew to a close, I looked around the room, taking in the faces of friends, colleagues, and emerging professionals who shared a common passion for excellence in corporate governance. Although the journey had been filled with difficulties and victories, it was these shared moments of joy that really strengthened our relationships.

A Culmination of Memories: A Festive Farewell

After spending several hours immersed in conversations and reflections, a sumptuous dinner provided the perfect conclusion to the event. With full hearts and renewed spirits, we bid adieu to the 49th Foundation Day Celebration, a chapter closed with memories etched forever.

Despite the moderate turnout, the essence of the evening remained undiminished. I couldn't help but feel incredibly appreciative for the honour bestowed upon me on this special occasion as my associate CS Murthy Gollakota and former Chairman CS KK Rao accompanied me out of the venue. The journey that began decades ago continues to inspire and motivate, and as I look forward to the future, I am filled with anticipation for the momentous 50th Foundation Day Celebration that lies ahead—a milestone that promises to be as glorious as the path that led us here.
